I present to you today the winner of the Best Customized Category - Steam punk Geara Zulu by Craig Clark. I featured this very same masterpiece here in my blog before as I really find it very inspiring. Craig Clark goes by the nick Mousemuffins at GAF and he is the same modeler who is currently working on a 1/48 Zaku Super Custom F2000!
The gears on the shoulders is pretty unique and unorthodox but is very logical as it could serve as motors for the movement of the arms. The 1300 rivets, the wires, the gears and all the modifications blended so well and produced a very solid steam punk look. The awesomeness of this build did not stop in the mods alone, as Craig gave the kit a nice very complicated hexa camo pattern and some topnotch weathering. This is a complete package, everything just blended well together and he made it look like a 1/100 scale kit. Craig pretty much defined modifications with this build.
This category was pretty exciting to judge as all of the other finalists where virtually tied with each other during the voting. 3 modelers are tied in 2nd place and 2 modelers are tied in 3rd place. Pretty exciting ey??? Wait till you see the results of the best in diorama category ( tomorrow ).
Anyways, here is a link to GG for what the other judges had to say and some photos of the prelim rounds finalist. Below are the photos of the other final round finalists and Placers in this category!
Thanks for dropping by! Best in Diorama category will be announced tomorrow! :)
