Some Warmachine Khador Models Soon!

I will be getting some Warmachine Khador metal miniatures next month! I am currently researching on how to play them at Battlecollege and I am excited to paint them as soon as I have them!



The photos below are the models that I will be getting. All of which should be fun to paint as they are well sculpted white metal miniatures from Privateer Press. However, unlike the huge resin model Hordes Mammoth Gargantuan that I primarily bought for painting, the figures below other than the Fenris, Widowmakers, Widowmaker Marksman and the Spriggan ( fat robot with a lance ) are not too interesting to paint. I hope they are fun to field in an actual game though.



I am still learning how to blend colors in hand painting. I am now using Vallejo Mediums while hand painting and I am loving the results in comparison to using distilled water in thinning my paints.

I hope to finish my Shocktroopers soon and will sure to post them here in my blog.



I will get back to my Gunpla commissioned works next month but decided to only work on them during weekends. I plan to paint minis ( miniatures ) for 2 hours a day during weekdays though. Hopefully my 2 hour per day weekday Warmachine painting sessions will slowly help me field a fully painted Khador Army. Dang I hate sleeping much more now than ever before. 8 hours or 1/3rd of my life is wasted on sleeping! 2 hobbies ( Gunpla and Warmachine ) is too difficult to balance!

Warmachine Khador Warcaster Kommander Strakhov verDC23

I finished this 30mm white metal ( pewter ) model from Privateer Press a couple of days ago. I added a few highlights and gave it a Gory Red wash. This Khador Warcaster Kommander Strakhov has a really nice sculpt! So many little details to paint and the red Khador uniforn is just so fun to do!



This was fully hand painted with Vallejo Acrylics except for the Vallejo surface primer which I shot with my airbrush. I used so many colors with this build as I am trying to improve my hand painting and trying to improve my color transitions. These white metal models are roughly as tall as 1/48 plastic figures ( in military scale modeling ). I never paint the figures of my Gunpla dioramas like so, I just do not feel like spending too much time on painting small plastic figures. I do feel like spending more time in painting plastic miniatures, much more white metal miniature models as they are expensive and the weight feels so much premium.



Anyways, I hope to improve the color transitions on my future miniature hand painting projects. The photos below show abrupt transitions that needs more blending. As always I think there is so much improvement and learning I have to do to produce better hand painted models. I got a bottle of Vallejo Retarder Medium today that should help me produce better and smoother color transitions using acrylics. The Retarder will retard or slow down the drying process of acrylics, thus I should be able to blend the colors much easier much like using oil paints.

MPC Frtl StarWars Star Destroyer verDC23

I finished this commissioned work of a StarWars Star Destroyer from MPC ( 1989 made kit ) a couple of weeks ago. The finished model looks deceivingly easy to do, but noooooo... most of the parts does not fit together well. The actual kit feels like resin with some warped parts, a missing part and a ton of gaps.



I had to craft the missing part and replicate those fine details. I also filled the gaps with styrene rods and strips and heated a few parts to force them to fit together. I may be spoiled with working with very well engineered Bandai kits that fits perfectly together, but working on this old kit is not so fun at all. As requested by my client, I also crafted a simple custom asteroid base as the clear transparent base looks so plain for display.



Painting the kit is a different story. I enjoyed painting the kit as it is quick and easy. Painted it with Vallejo paints and weathered this build with Vallejo pigments and washes. I wanted to weather it further but the ultra small scale of the kit would not allow it. Over weathering this scale would make it look like an old toy or simply make it look out of scale.

Black Templars Sword Brethren by AULON

 I am proud to present a different miniature art this time!



This Warhammer 40k Black Templars Sword Brethren, was modeled by MAC forums Moderator Pawel Cynk aka AULON of Poland. Aulon was the first ever champion of MAC forums when he won in our very first contest way back 2010. A pretty good Gunpla modeler who loves doing cool bases for his kits.



This time Aulon diversifies his craft by working on a Warhammer 40k mini figure. He maintains his cool weathered finishing on the mini and created a stunning base to compliment the kit. 1/100 Siren V Prominence Volk by MENNIE

We've got yet another resin kit master at MAC forums! This time MAC forums member MENNIE of www.bustfactory.com shares with as an impressive 1/100 Siren V Prominence Volk. Huge kit with lots of stunning details and intricate designs. Required a ton of masking work and detail painting but mennie pulled it off masterfully!



Great color tones, crisp panel line work, flawless finishing and very nice photography that gave justice to mennie's fine work. Spiderman kit modeled by NOYSAN

Sleepless night for me as I was excited to tell my wife some good news. Anyways I just woke up and saw yet another stunning resin kit masterpiece at MAC forums.



I have here a beautifully air brushed resin kit of Spiderman modeled by new MAC forums member NOYSAN. Noysan's shading on both the blue and red areas of the costume is spot on and it gave the kit much more volume and muscle tone. Great job on the kit and very good photography too!

1/20 Ma.K Raccon " New Arrival " by EDDYLAI

Let's start the day right. Just woke up to see this beautiful diorama at our forums. This was an entry to yet another Group Build at ZeroGunz by ZeroGunz member and MAC forums VIP member from Malaysia EDDY LAI. So not to get you confused, Eddy Lai is not boss Eday guys, he is the boss of Weathering and diorama  from Malaysia. Equally talented but with a different style.



The composition of the whole diorama gives a very relax impression that is both pleasing to the eyes and is very realistic. The weathering of the 1/20 Ma.K Raccon kit is as always topnotch as expected from Eddy. Great stuff as always! A ton more photos and discussion of this masterpiece at MAC forums. Star Blazers Dual Tri-Deck Carrier by KRIZ

Now that the Gunpla Builders Cup dust has settled, we could now see great non-GBWC entry posts at the forums. I have here a very nice miniature build by my best friend from the other side of the planet in KRIZ. Kriz's talent and knack for good diorama composition is undeniable and he did a nice quick job on this Star Blazers 1/200 model kit.



This is as long as a couple of lighters lined together but he managed to create a very interesting scene of the craft taking flight. Fine Molds Millenium Falcon modeled by GRAIL

I have here today a masterpiece of a build from MAC forums member GRAIL. This is a FM /144 Millinium Falcon Custom-The Corellian Bloodstripe. This kit is very small but due to the masterful painting and weathering of the kit, it actually looks a ton bigger in the photos than how it really is.

Grail painted this with all sort of kinds of paints. He mainly painted it with Tamiya acrylics, Alclads, Krylon black primer, Vallejo paints, oil paints and mig filters. 1/35 Transformers Movie 3 model kits!!!

I shamelessly took these photos from guNjap and Mecha Guy coz I wanted these photos in my archives. I am a TF fan and had been collecting the Toys since the first movie came out. As a Gunpla modeler, this news got me so excited! I have always dreamed of a kit of those cool TF designs as they will be super detailed if ever they copy the movie designs faithfully.

The toys are super detailed enough for toys, but imagine those details in a model kit. I also think that without the transformation gimmick, these kits should have nice articulation for great diorama poses. I just hope that the quality of the model kits will be at least almost as good as Bandai's.

Plus! because it is in 1/35 scale, all of those easy to acquire 1/35 military figures will match perfectly with these mechas! Man I cannot imagine the endless diorama possibilities that this kits has to offer. Ruined buildings, lots of 1/35 US Marine figures on the side and 1/35 battle damaging and weathering! This is so crazy!

Plus you get to practice nice car finishes on the car / armor parts and super detail painting on the internals. I do not detail paint Gunpla internals as much as others as they are always covered with armor anyways, but TF Movie designs would allow you to show off those detail painting! This is a dream project soon to come to reality.
