MG Zeta Karaba verDC23 - initial prime

This project has been more than 2 years in the making. This was a commissioned work back in 2011 right before I went awol and did not touch Gunpla for a full two years. I just came back in the hobby this year ( 2014 ) and resumed work on this project. The modifications are old school ( you will know what I mean after 2015 ). I informed the client of this build that I will no longer charge him the remaining 50% fee for working on this project. 2 years worth of wait does not justify doing it for free, my client actually deserves another finished build.



Glad that my client has patiently waited for this build which I am trying to finish before the year ends. The up coming Holidays should give me time to paint this project, but as is normal with Holidays, I might not be able to touch plastic at all. Hopefully I finish this as soon as I can.



Just wanted to archive these photos of the build during the first primed stage. I already puttied up some errors during modification and have actually painted this build last weekend. Tons of masking and hand painting this coming weekend and this should be done soon.

MG Zeta Karaba WIP - major mods done!

Pardon the bad photos but I wanted to take a break and share what I have now. I have been working with this kit since lunch time and I think I am almost done. I am basically done with the major mods and will be adding a bit of detailing later.



The focus of this build is the painting and the color scheme. So will just be adding a few panel lines and holes and not much pla plating. I basically bastardized the back pack as I want to give it a different look than my other Zeta builds. Anyways next update would be the kit in primer. Now here are a few photos of my progress so far...

 

MG Zeta Karaba WIP: Initial armor trimming mods

My Macbook Pro is busted! I can't even properly rotate photos, much more add my usual WIP logo and small watermarks on my photos. All the logo and files are in my laptop, I can still blog using this PC, but I am lazy to without all my graphics.



Anyways I just finished the MG Zeta commission complete with diorama and also I did considerable amount of work on the MG Zeta Karaba which is also a commission work. I cannot and will not post the photos of the just completed MG Zeta diorama as I've said I cannot add my watermarks on the photos.



This MG Zeta Karaba on the other hand is a simplier build, the diorama / base is smaller and the modifications are mostly just armor trimming and cutting. The focus of this build is the Pink patterns over the white armor parts. Thus I decided not to add pla plates as it will be difficult for me to mask and paint.



Hope the client likes the armor trimming though as it is the most I have done on a medium sized MG so far. Maybe I will add a few panel lines here and there to add a bit more details to the armor pieces. I do not want to add much though as I think the pink patterns would make this kit stand out already.

MG Zeta White Unicorn Color commish inspiration

This is the very same photo that I showed to my client months ago and this will also serve as my main inspiration and reference for his MG Zeta White Unicorn that arrived today. I do need to practice my panel line scribing for this build, so maybe I might work with a side project first before tackling these kinds of mods.



I saw this kit a couple of years ago and it took me around 30 minutes to find the website. I thought of posting it here as it will be easier for me to search for it while working with the kit. I love how the modeler gave the kit simple but very effective modifications. The Zeta looks sharper and fiercer!



This should be a really fun project as the focus is to have effective mods and clean finishing. My build will have a similar base with my Perfect Grade Zeta, although it will be smaller as the client just wants it small and shipping friendly.



Honestly I am kinda surprised myself as to why I am this excited with this build even if I am still working with the same kit right now. Anyways, looking forward to tackling this build very much! Thanks for dropping by! Til' next update guys! :)

MG Zeta White Unicorn Color commish has arrived!

Woot! The limited edition MG Zeta White Unicorn Color has arrived in my doorstep earlier today. I had to pay for the custom tax of 1,918 Php though, but I am pretty excited to see this since I got my full payment ( including shipping ) last month ( I only ask for 50% downpayment though ). 

This will be my 3rd Zeta commission build and my 3rd international commish. This was shipped from the US and I was waiting for this since last week. I will work on this after my other MG Zeta commission work ( Aussie client ) around April.

The treatment on this build will be a little different from the first MG Zeta build. I have sent a photo to the client before as to how I plan to tackle this kit. I basically plan to give this less pla plating and more panel line scribing. Less pla plates does not mean less mods though as the client also like it detailed.

I was totally surprised when I saw the huge box upon getting home. I thought that the client will be sending me a snap fitted fully assembled kit. I was then totally surprised and excited when I saw that the kit is unassembled as I love snap fitting kits.

Shipping the kit to the Philippines is a bit more expensive than just giving me the money to purchase the kit here. The client had to buy the kit + ship the kit + pay my talent fee + pay the shipping back to the US... Unlike giving me the money to buy the kit + pay my talent fee + pay shipping back to the US. The latter saves the client from shipping cost and tax. 

Pretty happy we pushed through with this project though as this will be my last commission work ( local or international ) for the year. I have to focus on my face off with TOYMAKER come June or July. Anyways, here are some photos I took upon getting my hands on the box... I love the smell of stuffs from FedEX!
