PG Strike Freedom verDC23 WIP081314

PG Strike Freedom verDC23 WIP081314photo

Not much update since my last post. Basically I did more armor trimming on some parts which I always love to do on any Master Grade or Perfect Grade kits. Armor trimming and separation is done already and I have started to work on the actual modifications I had in mind for this kit. Stay tuned guys as I try to give this PG Strike Freedom a more menacing look.

Thanks as always for dropping by! Until next post guys! Just enjoy the hobby! :)

G-SHOT 2011 Best in Paint Job - Matt Tomczek

G-SHOT 2011 Best in Paint Job - Matt Tomczek photo

Good friend and MAC forums VIP member Matt Tomczek of the US just won in the Best in Paint Job category at Gundam Guy's G-Shot 2011 Gunpla Photo Contest!

Lots of great entries in the Best in Paint Job Category but I ended up choosing Matt's fine work on this Perfect Grade GP01. The insane amount of work and the technical skill to pull of such a fine perfect grade masterpiece is too overwhelming for me to not put Matt as the winner. 3 out of the 5 judges chose this build over the others.

View the rest of the finalists which made our job difficult at Gundam Guy's official post. Here is the link guys...

2012 Mecha Contest WIP - initial mods

2012 Mecha Contest WIP - initial mods photo

Started a little bit of work on my 2012 Mecha Contest entry for the modified plastic category earlier today. Not much progress actually. I stripped the PG Aile Strike of it's precious 30th anniversary clear armor parts and started with the basic shapes of the chest and as usual the crotch.

I also started a bit of work on the huge weapon which was made of 1.2 mm pla plates, 8mm clear plastic rod and a 5mm plastic rod. I basically need to scratch built huge armor pieces and sort of design my own. Scratch building on the fly without much reference adds to the challenge and the fun of this project. I hope I can pull it off. Needless to say I only plan to use the internals of the perfect grade kit and will not use any of it's armors. Maybe I will end up with a naked kit. lol

Anyways here are photos of the initial mods...

PG RX-78-2 modeled by SLIVER

PG RX-78-2 modeled by SLIVER photo

I have been away in the forums for a couple of days, and that feels like a couple of weeks at MAC forums as people ( members ) keep on pouring great stuff both in the work in progress threads and the completed section threads.

I have here today a masterpiece by MAC forums member SLIVER. Sliver did a great job on this old perfect grade RX-78-2 Gundam kit. He added subtle modifications that complimented the overall look of the kit and his painting is topnotch flawless work. He painted this masterpiece with Industrial grade spray cans but he used it so well producing such a good finish.

Anyways, gazillion photos of this build at MAC forums as usual. Here is the link guys...

custom PG Red Astray Dragon Ronin verMATX

custom PG Red Astray Dragon Ronin verMATX photo

I think I have to feature this masterpiece of a build already as the GBWC dust is really starting to fade by now. I have been waiting for the proper photo shoot shots for weeks now as I do not want to feature this with only the event photos uploaded in the forums. Hope to still see those photos in the thread though.

This is yet another winning entry from the not so recently concluded Gunpla Builders World Cup Philippines last November. This custom Perfect Grade Red Astray Gundam was crafted and modeled by no other than one of our MAC forums admin and co - creator MATANGLAWINX.

MatX originally planned this as an entry back in 2009 but left it untouched since then. He then eventually decided to revisit this build a couple of months before GBWC Philippines 2011 and managed to pull it off together with a rushed diorama / base.

MatX has been since long regarded as one if not the best scratch builders in the country ( Philippines )... he just always keeps on not finishing or painting is highly customized builds. I am just so personally happy that he finished something for the contest. The win is just a bonus.

Anyways discussion and a ton more photos of this build at our MAC forums diorama section...

PG Strike Freedom modeled by LAGRANGE1

Fellow Filipino MAC forums member Greggy Bada aka LAGRANGE1 finished another good build and shared it at the forums. Lagrange1 did some subtle shading under a glossy surface which is very unorthodox but managed to pull it off admirably. This PG Strike Freedom is a commission work and another Gunpla client should be happy when he gets this.

I am very sure this looks better in person as it is very difficult to capture the beauty of gloss finishing in photos. Decal work and panel line work is also nice. Anyways a ton more photos and discussion of this behemoth at the forums. Here is the link guys...

GBWC entry: PG MKII Titans by EMONEM

GBWC entry: PG MKII Titans by EMONEM photo

I love dioramas like I always say, thus this entry back at Gunpla Builders World Cup Philippines caught my eye first, when I was with my daughter Nico when we were submitting her entry.

This is the second entry of MAC forums member Raymond Orellana aka EMONEM. This is one of the top 8 entries in the Open category ( 5th or 7th ) much like our other 4 members. I already featured one of his entries a few moons back, which is the Angels and Demons diorama, which also won him a special prize during the event.

Anyways discussion and a ton more photos of this stunning Perfect Grade masterpiece at MAC forums... Here is the link to our diorama section guys...
