Full Scrap Built Mecha modeling by Mark Bersola

Full Scratch Built Mecha modeling by Mark Bersolaphoto

Just had to share this monster of a build!

Pardon the quality of the photos guys. The photos were taken during our most recent meet-up last weekend. We just had to have a Gunpla meet-up to make the creative juice flowing before GBWC. Lots of people brought Bandai kits during the meet-up and obviously this build by Mark Bersola stood out!

This is a fully scrap ( not scratch ) build by fellow Filipino modeler Mark Bersola! A young stud in our local Gunpla community. These younger guys are way too talented for us old guys ( lol ). He mixed some household materials, SD Kshatriya parts and other normal day materials to come up with this behemoth of a kit! The rounded parts are the most impressive as it required puttying and lots of sanding.

What I love about the build is the design itself! It looks very complicated yet does not look overly done! Design elements are well thought of and well integrated into each other. This build is very complex yet does not qualify as "cluster-fuk". Great stuff by Mark Bersola.

The build needs a bit of clean up before painting and will sure look awesome once it is! Hope to see this behemoth after Mark adds more detailing to the build.

Hope you like this post!? Until next post guys. Just enjoy this great hobby! :)

Panzerkampfwandern 38(x) by FichtenFoo

Ello guys, I just want to share a masterpiece by FichtenFoo... Michael Fichtenmayer aka FichtenFoo or master Foo as I call him in his forum is a really great scale modeler from the US and he does lots of scratch built projects and some Gundams. The great thing about him is his range of modeling skills from weathered finishes to pristine smooth finishes, ootb works to totally scratch built pieces...and he does kits in record time. If a few of you think my pace last year ( 21 kits made last year ) is fast...well, I am a slow poke in comparison to this guy!

Anyways, as I've said a gazillion times...I learned ALL of my basic Gunpla modeling from master Foo's website. I just lurk back then ( 2008 ) and saved all of his works in my hard drive. Honestly, I was very hesitant to blog about master Foo's work coz well, who does not know the guy? I mean I visit master Foo's site as often as I visit dalong's site back in 2008.

I am not into military modeling, I have not tried it actually though I have briskly painted a couple of 1/72 trucks for a couple of dioramas. I like tanks, ships, planes and dinosaurs when I was a kid, But I  like robots and sci fi stuffs  more as I grew older.

So what amazes me with master Foo's recent work is that he combined a normal tank ( 0 idea ) with some mechanical spider looking legs and made it look like a realistic tank with sci fi legs...and the best thing about this piece is the composition of the diorama. It sort of tells a simple story with the placement of the rocks, the legged tank and the figure. The rock formations in the dio itself answers the question of why you need a legged tank in the first place. I mean what normal tank could reach those rocks?

Now here is the link of master Foo's most recent masterpiece...the...

scratch built backpack update

Ello guys, I managed to squeeze in a couple of hours today to glue a few parts to the scratch built / kit bash backpack I posted earlier this week. Again, this is made up of a mini M&M canister ( green ), some white board markers, a zeta gun, some military parts, some 5mm and 2mm plastic rods and a few koto parts. Obviously this is far from done...but I have no plans of working on this by weekend. I need to start painting the AC White Glint commission that has been sitting on my work bench for some time now.

I plan to detail this piece further, add some wires and some more pla plating and koto parts. Anyways, I have here some pictures to digest, here they are...

Just a quick Scratch built project...

Ello guys, I was kinda itchy yesterday to try my hand on scratch building after constructing the MKII diskette hangar. I found some materials that gave me an idea for creating a Vanguard Overed Boost ( VOB ) - type back pack. Basically I used a pack of 5mm and 2mm plastic rods, some white board markers, a mini M&M plastic container, super glue and I just glued them all together basically. hihi...I will need to detail and modify this with some MSG parts and some pla plates. Honestly I have 0 idea on where to use this...like most of my scratch building experiments ( that I never post anywhere )...this may just end up in my stash. BTW, I also used a 1/144 Zeta gun, a 1/100 Zeong booster and a syringe needle to detail the booster.

Anyways here are some pics of my vain attempt to scratch build...

I have detailed this further with pla plates and pla rods as seen on the first photo but it still looks pathetic! hahaha...I f I ever decide to push through with this experiment, I will show you some photos of it primed. Thanks for viewing! ;)
