AOR_OR_DIE of Italy is now in the Philippines!

Omar aka Aor_or_die of Italy and of  Gundam Dreams arrived in the Philippines a couple of days ago, and I together with a handful of MAC people met with him yesterday.



I met Omar back in BAKUC 2008 in Hong Kong and has always been sharing notes and works since then. It is super nice to see a friend in person that came from a very distant place ( 20 hours of travel from Italy to the Philippines ). I was very excited to see him since I posted this post and his masterpieces a while back, but I honestly could not describe the great feeling of seeing him in person once again.



It was also sooooooooooooo inspiring to see Omar's " MONSTERPIECE "of a kit! It is nice to see his PMS-007 Jaguar as it slowly comes to life in his website ( Gundam Dreams ), BUT it is breath taking to see all those scratch built pieces in person! Omar has outdone himself and is about to come up with the badest " monsterpiece " / Monster Grade to date!



This hobby has been so fun for the past 4 years and meeting other ( international and local ) modelers and making great friends is truly what any hobby is ALL ABOUT!



I totally enjoyed 9 hours of chatting with Omar and his friend Anar. I hope they enjoy the rest of their stay here in the Philippines, as they swim inside the crater of a volcano ( Mt. Pinatubo ) and swim with the Butandings ( Whale Sharks ) in Palawan! I also hope Omar gets to see a Tarsier as he told me he loves monkeys very much ( lol ).



A ton of THANK YOUs to both Omar and Anar for all the food and beers yesterday! And super thanks for my first resin kit and my daughter's HG Gaddes kit! Another great Gunpla experience that I will cherish for the rest of my life ( great stuff ).

AOR_OR_DIE arrives in the Philippines in 10 days!!!

Good friend back from BAKUC 2008, Omar aka Aor_or_die from Italy will be landing in the Philippines in 10 days!



Aor of  Gundam dreams is an old friend I met back in HongKong at BAKUC 2008. He represented Italy as their Italy BAKUC champion. He has produced countless Plastic and resin masterpieces since then and remains to be an active inspiration of the community until today.



Aor is now a moderator at ZeroGunz ( my old forum ) and also an active VIP member of our MAC forums. I am very excited to see him again, eventhough I am no longer that active in Gunpla these days. Omar will be landing in the Philippines ( Manila ) on February 25! And together with a handful of MAC forums people, we will be meeting him on the 26th!



So book February 26 guys and be ready to meet one of the masters of the craft from Italy in Aor_or_Die. I'll leave you with links of some of Aor's notable masterpieces...

Bandai Model Kit World Cup Philippines???

Ello guys, there is much fuzz about the new Bandai competition this year. The US has two companies claiming sponsorship and this was announced at Singapore also. Malaysia has yet to get an announcement I think and so is Indonesia and the Philippines.



MatX made a phone call yesterday to a  Bankee official and inquired about the new contest. First of all Bankee is the sole and official distributor of Bandai products in the Philippines. Bankee co - sponsors and organizes such events in the Philippines.



Apparently, the World Cup is just a " renamed " Bakuc with a little tweaking in the rules and a couple of additional categories. There is now an OOTB category and a Group category. The ootb category I see as a replacement to the new challenger category of some sort or to anyone who loves the original design of the mechs and the group category sounds interesting!



We are having these discussions in the MAC forums these past few days... no serious discussions actually, me and mdgelo are just fooling around the discussion section and acting that we are at it again. hahaha... Like we say in the forums... May the biggest crotch win! XD



Anyways, the main question for me is the rule tweaking??? I mean, there are rumors that the Bakuc experts can now join the Pro category again, which means resetting the old rule of " 3 time top 3 winner in past Bankee competitions should be in the expert category and not allowed to join the Pro category ". And also the winner in the Pro category will represent their country in Tokyo, Japan and not Hong Kong.



Anyways, these are all rumors and unofficial news now, the only official news that we confirmed is that it is just practically a renamed Bakuc...We will check with Bankee for the official announcement soon.



So, hehehe... Just enjoy the hobby guys! XD

BAKUC project update - the big picture

Ello guys, just a quick update on my Bakuc 2010 diorama. I have salvaged a few parts from my stash and just slapped it on the diorama. Some shoulder mounted cannons from both the hguc and MG Guncannon, a crane from a MG MKII base, a crane from a 1/87 fire truck and a few more small pieces of scrap...now it looks like crap! lol



I have also done the main platform using a 1mm pla plate, scribed a few lines and a few sections were removed using some Hasegawa saws... I will put details on those recessed areas soon. Ths MKII crane was cut with Tamiya saws and fitted nicely on the left side. Further details on the walls and some wiring scattered all over the floor of the platform will be added  to give the hangar a more steam punk look.



I figured that over detailing the hangar won't out stage the MG Sazabi coz the painting will be predominantly gray anyways. Plus, the sheer size of the Saz and the simple composition of the diorama would still make the Saz the main focal point. It is just a simple hangar dio after all. The " The Graveyard " effect of out staging the main mech ( Infinite Justice ) should never happen again.

BAKUC project update - detailing the hangar II

Ello guys, I managed to add a few more sprues on the dio... I thought using sprues are easy but I eventually realized that cleaning the extra nubs and sanding them takes some time, but I think it is well worth it! Plus it's free! The dio is turning out as I envisioned it and the added sprues gives it more depth and adds to the steam punk look that I am trying to achieve.



This is roughly taking shape now... just a few more details on the walls ( really small details ) and some small 1mm and 2 mm rods to detail the sprues further. I am happy with the outcome so far and I will work on this further after office later today. Anyways here are a few more pics on the progress so far...

Bakuc poll closed! it's MG Sazabi for Bakuc 2010

Ello guys, I have this poll in the sidebar since around mid April and thanks a ton for all those who voted. The poll got 367 total votes and the results ended with the Kshatriya with 147 votes or 39.2% of the votes. MG Sinanju got to a close second place with 142 votes or 37.87% of the total votes.



I have all of the kits at hand except the PG 00 Raiser... but decided against it a long time ago, coz I want to create a big dio and creating one for the PG 00 Raiser will be too much, plus my wife will kill me. hehe



I eventually chose to use the MG Sazabi that I got a couple of days ago... I have been snap fitting the kit a couple of hours before office and I am almost done. Only the backpack manipulators and weapons are left unassembled.



I will take better comparison pics of the MG Sazabi, MG Sinanju and hguc Kshatriya later... but took a couple quick snapshots of the three. I basically chose the Saz over the Sinanju because it is bigger and has a gazillion of empty armor for mod ideas! love it...it looks like a piece of canvass to me. hihi.



Anyways it is going to be MG Sazabi this year end and now, here are a couple of comparison pics and the poll results...

I am getting my MG Sazabi today!

Photo is from dalong.net and this is just a quick post... I might be getting my MG Sazabi! woohoo! I think we will be getting our midyear bonus today ( most of it is for tution fees, hehe ) and I will run to the nearest Gunpla shop to grab a MG Sazabi. This will be my most expensive kit yet.



I have been practicing and doing Gunpla for a little over a couple of years now and I think I won't ruin an expensive MG by now. I made it a point when I started back in 2008 that I would not buy the MG Sazabi and MG EXS until my Gunpla skills are decent enough.



So, if you've noticed most of my kits in the gallery ( except the commission works ) are relatively cheap MGs, my most expensive now is the MG Sinanju and I have not touched that yet either. I will be comparing the MG Sazabi, MG Sinanju and hguc Kshatriya to determine what to build for Bakuc this year ( 2010 ). I will be snapfitting this as soon as I have the kit. wahoo! XD

BAKUC project update - detailing the hangar

Ello guys, Just a quick update... I have been adding details to my Bakuc 2010 diorama. Again it is just a simple hangar type diorama so that it won't compete with the main kit for attention. Another plan is to try to make it as cheap as possible by using materials around the house.



The concept is very simple, unlike my " The Graveyard "... this is just a hangar base in the middle of a forest here on Earth. The few trees ( I have yet to make ) keeps the hangar semi hidden and the forest encompassing the hangar has made it rusty and it looks unmaintained.



Anyways, I used, CD cases ( clear plastic ), balloon sticks, High Impact Plastic Sheets ( HIPS ), some medical insurance cards, and some Gunpla trees. However, I did use some real pla plates for easier detailing later and a few leftover MSG option parts ( if there is such a thing ).



BTW, I got the idea of using the spruce from Zluca's and got the idea of using the balloon sticks from Fritz, a Pinoy modeler...so nothing unique here actually. XD



I will be detailing this a bit more later with more smaller pla plates, MSG option parts, wire stuffs and some Gunpla trees... anyways, here are some pics of the diorama so far. ;)
