HASAKI: mac forums artist of the month 1211

HASAKI: mac forums artist of the month poster

I am proud to announce a new gimmick for our MAC forum members! As my website has totally evolved from a personal blog of my works to a portal of all the great stuffs from our MAC forums, featuring the great contributions of our dear members is no longer enough as it is now a daily normal thing.

So I will now be putting up a banner of a chosen modeler from our MAC forums in my slideshow on top of my website. The banner will link to the chosen modeler's blog, website or youtube channel and not to any post here. Instant jump to the featured artist of the month's home is hopefully better ( more traffic to the member's site ) than linking back to any of my posts.

This idea came from fellow MAC forums admin Kriz. And this is basically our own little way of further giving back to our dear members. The MAC forums artist of the month is chosen mainly due to his contributions and activity for the given month. Not necessarily the modeler of the BEST model kit of the month, but definitely is the most active and most valuable MAC forums member of the month!

I present to you HASAKI of the US as our very first themacforums.com Artist of the month! With 5.5 posts per day, Hasaki is one of the most if not the most active member of our MAC forums for the month of November 2011. Hasaki is basically all over the place as you could see his name in almost all the sections at MAC forums. Now I give you the link to Hasaki's blog Hasaki Art...

hguc Ground Type Sazabi modeled by KAMM

hguc Ground Type Sazabi modeled by KAMM photo

I have here the other half of the Kamm versus Decay hguc Sazabi build off at MAC forums. Jonathan Kaminski aka KAMM continuous to improve and evolve as a modeler since his yellow MG Strike Gundam. His hand painting skills is as always above the roof and now his modification skills is catching up pretty fast!

Aside from being the creator of Europe Gunpla Cup at MAC forums, One of our admins at MAC forums and co creator of our up coming 2012 Mecha Contest, KAMM is the one and only inspiration for me when it comes to hand painting. Most if not all of my knowledge in hand painting was inspired from Kamm's.

Discussion and tons of photos of Kamm's most recent masterpiece at MAC forums... here is the link guys...

HG Tieren Space Type modeled by CHIMPSKI

HG Tieren Space Type modeled by CHIMPSKI photo

I have here a very well done hg Tieren Space Type modeled by MAC forums member in CHIMPSKI. Chimpski did a great job on the camo pattern, the weathering, the battle damages and subtle mods. The weathering and the battle damage effects are in scale and is very very nice in particular.

The weathering and paint chipping effects on the giant canisters looks so realistic and stunning. And the battle damage effects / battle scars on the shoulder armor are equally impressive! Anyways, discussion and a ton more photos of this build at our MAC forums standalone section. Here is the link guys...

GBWC entry: MG Full Armor Unicorn by Krescenhaze

MG Full Armor Unicorn by Krescenhaze photo

I have here another great Gunpla Builders World Cup entry at MAC forums! This custom scratch built Full Armor Unicorn was modeled by MAC forums moderator Adrian Sicat aka KRESCENHAZE. The sheer amount of scratch building on this kit is insane! And the masking involved in painting those destroy mode internals on the scratch built weapon system is equally crazy.

He kinda rushed the diorama and he did some last minute paint shipping effects on the kit. It was Kres' first time to do the sponge weathering technique and I am pretty sure he will do a better job next time. Overall a very impressive display during the event. Great job Adrian!

A ton more photos and discussion of this build at MAC forums as usual... here is the link guys...

scratch build Devil Gundam reference photos

scratch built Devil Gundam reference photos

Regular readers and visitors of this website have seen this show before. I start with getting many reference photos of my big project and share them.

In a vain attempt to try to improve my primitive scratch building skills and improve my craft as a whole, I might try to attempt to scratch build a 1/100 Devil Gundam for my 2012 year end project. I did okay with my The O II conversion against Toymaker, but as expected my The O II stands no chance with Kenny's. Thus I shall try to improve next year ( thanks Kenny! ).

The Devil Gundam project is obviously highly inspired from nblood's Devil Gundam. And I will try to build my own version. As it is very obvious by now, I try to make my year end projects BIGGER than the previous ones. So what project could be bigger than my The O II conversion? A scratch built 1/100 Devil Gundam is definitely a candidate.

BTW, Thanks a ton to all the guys who voted in the poll in my sidebar, keep on voting guys as I am not really fixed on killing my self by doing this Devil Gundam. It is so much easier to modify and customized a PG Strike Freedom if it wins in the poll ( lol ).

custom hguc Sazabi modeled by DECAY

custom hguc Sazabi modeled by DECAY photo

What better way to wake up after 2 days of office work. I just saw this masterpiece by very talented modeler from Germany in William Decay aka DECAY! Decay is a long time MAC forums member who is one of our hard working moderators. This is his entry for his build off with Kamm and he did a great job on the hguc Sazabi.

I love the color scheme very much as it gives the kit that heavy iron look! The weathering looks fantastic as always and the modifications are so creative as expected from Decay. Decay after all is our Europe Gunpla Cup best in customized Champion.

Anyways join our MAC forums and check out the ton of photos of this masterpiece by Decay. Here is the link guys...

MAC forums new launch pad sections!

MAC forums new launch pad sections photo

I am really busy with real life office work these days so I have here a quick post on the new subsections of our completed section at MAC forums. I have only featured around 30% of all the new entries at the said section for the past couple of weeks and hope this quick simple post would lead you to all the new entries at our MAC forums.

I will personally try to feature every good build with good photos here in my website as much as I can, but for now I hope this post would get you started on checking all the great entries inside our launch pad.

We always strive to improve your MAC forums experience and we hope the revamped sub sections would be a better way to feature all those great entries. Now here are the links to all 4 sub sections of our MAC forums launch pad below...

On a side note, thanks a ton for all the readers who has voted in my POLL in my sidebar. Keep on voting guys! Thanks for the inputs! :)

GBWC entry: Angels and Demons modeled by EMONEM

GBWC entry by EMONEM photo

I hope you still like seeing the Gunpla Builders World Cup entries at our MAC forums. I have not even featured half of what we have inside, as a ton of our members won prizes at the event with their great entries! I have here another carzy diorama by MAC forums member Raymond Orellana aka EMONEM.

Honestly this entry took my breath away when I saw it in person because of the crazy concept and very original diorama. A Sci Fi scene depicting two robots over a battle of horse riders is no usual stuff to say the least. Raymond won a couple of times for this entry at GBWC Philippines.

A ton more photos of this masterpiece at our MAC forums diorama section as always. Here is the link guys...

Flame Premium Artist in the making...

Flame Premium Artist in the making photo

I am really tired today and I could not even lift a plastic cutter or even an art knife. I only have a few hours of sleep and could only slouch in front of my mac ( not our forums ).

Gunpla life aside... I ( together with 4 others ) have been doing training for a month now in using our new 13 million peso worth machine in the office. It is the latest acquisition of the company and they are sort of making sure that we could maximize the hardware. Our company is the only company who has Autodesk Flame Premium 2012 in the Philippines as of this writing. Thus I am one of the very few who somehow knows how to use this great stuff.

I have been working as a director, video editor and visual effects artist for 11 years now. However the softwares that I have been using are just softwares that are very accessible even to students these days. However the machine that I am using right now, being 13 million pesos worth is a totally different monster.

So if your are my friend at Facebook, you'll notice that I have changed my avatar to FLAME ARTIST. I am basically fresh from our Flame Premium training and still have a long way to go to learn the stuff. But I am pretty confident I could call my self a Flame Artist instead of the normal Visual Effects Artist that I have been using as my title for so many years now.

I am passionate about learning Flame... although I'll try to be as passionate in Gunpla when at home, I will put that same level of passion into learning the craft or skill of using Flame in the office. I am a Flame Premium Artist in the making from this day onwards...

Will never as much as possible touch or use those cheap power computers for visual effects... lol

What could be my next BIG project for 2012???

Although I still have a couple of Master Grade Zeta commission works to finish and I just finished my year end The O II verDC23 project, I need your help to decide which should or could be my BIG project next year ( 2012 )?

I always have these kinds of post every after year end Bandai competitions, coz I always like to hear my reader's thoughts. And I always cannot make my mind on what BIG project for next year end. After the Zluca / Kobayashi inspired MG The O that I did, I think I need to work on a clean project to improve my finishing, modifications and painting.

So as always, my next big project is going to be huge, fat, and highly modified. But will try to do a clean finished kit for a change. I need to get away from my comfort zone and do clean stuffs once in a while. Hope to get your inputs on this guys as your help always plays a major part of my decision making.

I have a POLL on my sidebar and hope you leave a vote or two before leaving for MAC forums ( lol ). You could also comment here in this post if you have other suggestions in mind. Thanks as always for dropping by! Til' next post guys!

I am so happy to present to you a super stunning build at our MAC forums. This beautiful Master Grade Sinanju in blue candy color color scheme was modeled by new MAC forums member in DB77. I think we have yet another member to look out for!

The finishing is so nice and glossy, you could even see parts of the kit reflecting on the other parts. The decal work and overall color scheme is simply a masterpiece. Pardon me for the inactivity here in my site for the past couple of days as I was at work. I do hope you like the new revamped look of my website as it has so many links to worthwhile sites as of now.

GBWC entry: Sovereignty modeled by NOOBKING photo

I am proud to present another diorama masterpiece at MAC forums. This is a Gunpla Builders World Cup entry from Singapore by new MAC forums member NOOBKING. This was his first time doing a diorama but he totally did a superb job on his first!

I love all the textures very much as I am originally a Lord of the Rings fan. The ground work is so lovely and full of nitty gritty stuff and I also love the over weathering of the MG Gouf! A ton more photos of this beautiful build at our MAC forums diorama section! Here is the link guys...

GBWC entry: In a Pinch modeled by LACERTA

GBWC entry: In a Pinch modeled by LACERTA photo

I have been featuring Gunpla Builders World Cup entries from our dear MAC forum members for the past couple of weeks now... but I think I need a couple more weeks to feature them all. Just too many members that joined the contest as expected ( some were shy to approach us during the event  here in the Philippines though ).

We will make sure to gather all of you guys in next year's GBWC so that we could rock the place even more! Anyways I have here another eye catcher during the event. Placed near the fence that I why I was able to inspect this entry a lot. The weathering is pretty good and the pose very dynamic.

Just a bit of refinement on the weathering and the ground work and this is perfect. This MG MKII and Zaku Minelayer diorama was modeled by active MAC forums member LACERTA. A ton more photos of this diorama at our diorama section at MAC forums. Here is the link guys...

dc23mecharts.com at 2 years old! THANK YOU!

dc23mecharts at 2 years old poster

I have been very busy the past month both in my real life and my Gunpla life. I have been learning and using a 13 million peso worth computer in my office for the past month. And I believe I have been learning it well. Me together with 3 other visual effects artists in my office are now one of the very few ( maybe around 10 ) Filipinos who knows how to use this very expensive computer.

Anyways, I was also obviously busy with my Gunpla life the past month. Our 2012 Mecha contest at MAC forums is about to kick off. Maintenance of my online shop is no easy task and rushing my The O II project to meet the deadline was no easy task either. So I basically forgot that my humble blog / website is already 2 years old last November 9!

My website has evolved from just being a simple blog that houses all my WIPs and completed kits, to a  portal of everything MAC forums and toolbox23.com.

Thank you to all the members of our MAC forums, I never run out of beautiful model kits to feature here in my website. THANK YOU to all who visits this website and hope to see you in both our MAC Facebook and our MAC forums. Continue to enjoy the hobby and have fun everyone!

THANK YOU TO ALL!!!

GBWC entry: MG Deathscythe by GIANSHOPAO

GBWC entry: MG Deathscythe by GIANSHOPAO photo

I would be brave enough to say that Gian Paparo aka GIANSHOPAO is now one of the best Gunpla modelers here in the Philippines today. And is undeniably one of the best painters that uses Tamiya acrylics on his kits. Gian is a young modeler that I know back in ZeroGunz and we are now very happy to have him at our MAC forums.

I am pretty sure that he will feel at home at our forums as we house most if not all of the newer and younger up and coming modelers from the Philippines, as well as the ultra talented pool of very skilled and talented international members. MAC forums is ( arguably ) the haven for the young Gunpla modelers in the Philippines today.

As usual, Gianshopao did a fantastic job with his custom MG Deathscythe. His modification skills and painting skills is undeniably one of the bests out here. Scary to think that Gian will only improve as he enjoys this hobby. Enjoy more photos of this stunning masterpiece at our MAC forums. Here is the link guys...

GBWC entry: Ambush modeled by filmechs photo

I am very proud to present to you a Gunpla Builders World Cup Philippines winner. " Ambush " highlights a super modified MG Zaku White Ogre and was modeled by MAC forums VIP member in Fil Dimaano aka FILMECHS. I need not share with you old threads of Fil to show you that he is a MAC member ( lol ). Coz Fil is basically the supplier and maker of ALL our MAC forum shirts!

I am very proud of the guy as he is a pretty busy dad and he did a tremendous job of almost going to the Hong Kong finals with this masterpiece. Love the water effects and the weathered look of the kit! The panel line scribing was very well done as I inspected them up close in person. Overall a masterpiece from Fil! GBWC entry: Awakening modeled by KIMARAI

GBWC entry: Awakening modeled by KIMARAI photo

I have here another promising entry that I saw in person at Gunpla Builders World Cup. Although the weathering looks a bit too much in the photos, this build is actually nice to look at in person. This was modeled by MAC forums member Billy Potz aka KIMARAI.

This marks the first time that Kimarai worked this much on a Gunpla and he has learned a lot with the build. Hope to see his progress and future works in our MAC forums. A ton more photos and discussion of this build at MAC. Here is the link guys...

GBWC entry: Cheetor modeled by Tam Santos photo

I have here my MOST favorite entry during the Gunpla Builders World Cup Philippines 2011! This creative and very stunning work was modeled by MAC forums member TAM SANTOS. He is a very lazy forumer but has been in almost all if not all our MAC forums and GMAC meet ups!

Tam did a super good job on the claws and the paint job looks ridiculously attractive! Would love to try to build something like this to add to my display cabinet. A few photos and discussion of this creative build at our MAC forums as usual. Here is the link guys...

GBWC entry: BEST Sangokuden entry by REDKNIGHT

GBWC entry: BEST Sangokuden entry by REDKNIGHT photo

The post of this masterpiece has the loooooongestttttttt topic title I have ever seen in a forums section ever!  The title of this build at MAC forums is GBWC 2011 Philippines Open Category - Sangokuden diorama entry - CELESTIAL GODS. Long title ey? This Celestial Gods Sangokuden diorama was modeled by MAC forums member REDKNIGHT.

RedKnight's " Celestial Gods " won the Best in Sangokuden Entry at the GBWC Philippines 2011. This is by far one of the best Sangokuden diorama I have ever seen. Definitely the best Sangokuden diorama here in the Philippines in a wide margin ( I think ).

This was painted with spray cans save a couple of kits. Great job on such a difficult kit to paint! A ton more photos of this build is at our MAC forums diorama section as usual. Here is the link guys...

MG GP02A modeled by Sacrophage photo

I have here a really cool and weathered rendition of an old Bandai MG GP02 Gundam modeled by MAC forums VIP member and old Gunpla batchmate Nath Dalanon aka Sacrophage. I love all the modifications on this build specially the gun and the huuuuugggggeeeee backpack.

A nice diorama or base, another tertiary color to break the monotone color scheme and this is good to go! Overall a very nice job on a very old crappy kit. A ton more photos of this beautiful work at our MAC forums launch pad as usual. Here is the link to Nath's recent work...

I am proud to present the very first individual feature of an entry at the recently concluded GBWC Philippines 2011. This was modeled by MAC forums member Wuji Zun aka DARKWORKX. A young up and coming modeler who is showing promising skills and creativity with plastic.

Wuji is a very active member of our MAC forums and has been in most meet ups including our MAC forums anniversary last August 2011. Wuji did a great job on his Cherudim Saga and the diorama added a nice overall feel to the kit. My fav part is the small yellow MAC forums logo somewhere in the diorama. MAC forums at GBWC Philippines 2011

MAC forums at GBWC Philippines 2011 photo

MAC forums has grown so much since last year and events like GBWC is becoming more and more fun as our community grows in numbers and in talents. These photos were taken by our site admin Jose Sabale aka KISAPMATA. Unfortunately he cannot go inside the " fence " as he did not participate this year, thus his photos are limited to those entries by MAC members near the fence.

I have here a small percentage maybe around 50 percent of the entries of MAC forum members during the recently concluded Gunpla Builders World Cup Philippines. No worries though as I will make sure to feature ALL the entries of other MAC forum members in individual posts, who will post there entries in the MAC forums launch pad.

Jose was also not able to take photos of other members that we failed to recognize during the event. Feel free to approach us next time as we are a friendly bunch ( lol ). Just post your works in the launch pad guys and I will try to make sure I feature them here in my website.

5 out of the top 8 ( Open Category ) are active MAC forum members!

Our new champion is MAC forums member Michael Costa aka BULASTOG!

I have featured Michael a couple of times here in my website before. First was when I liked his entry very much at last year's BMKWC 2010. I also posted Michael's work in progress thread at MAC forums a while back.

I actually congratulated him even before the announcement of winners as he really did a great job with his Buster Gundam! I have been following his WIP at our forums and I was blown away with the finish product. I will be personally waiting for his final photos at MAC forums but for the mean time I will give you the link to the WIP thread ( You do not need to sign up to view our WIPs ) of our new Philippine Champion!
