PG MKII commission - WIP - more armor shaving

Ello guys, I have been working with this kit since after Lunch. I basically removed / shaved off more armor areas to reveal some internal details and give the armor a more interesting shape. The mods also gives a more complicated look to the overall appearance of the kit. I also exposed a few internal parts on the calf armor.

I could finish the modifications of this commission build this weekend. At this pint I only have to add my usual pla plating and maybe a few holes and koto parts. I am pretty satisfied with the segmented look of the armors, perfect for dark color schemes.

Again, client wants this in Titans color, so there won't be exaggerated pla plating this time as that won't be visible in dark color schemes anyways. Now here are some pics of the progress so far...

Starcraft Terran Marine 1/30 model kit - snapfit

Ello guys, I snap fitted a 1/30 model kit of a Starcraft Marine by Academy. It was a fun build, took me about 20 minutes to snap fit the little guy. There are seam lines all over except the rifle but the mold is nice and crisp and the alignment of the parts is perfect. It actually snaps better than a AC kit.

I bought this kit coz I plan to pair it with my first ever painted model kit which is a 1/30 Zerg Hydralisk. However I find the Terran too small for the Zerg, so I need to get a couple more of this Terran kit before I could create a nice interesting diorama.

Unlike the Zerg kit which has vinyl parts, the Terran is purely made up of plastic parts. Even the joints are made of hard plastic. Again, the mold is excellent and the pose-ability limited. My fav part is the details on the head of the Terran, it is actually very nice and looks very aggressive.

The only problem that I think that I will encounter is the cast metal texture of the kit... After seam line and nub marks removal, I will have to replicate the texture as it will be sanded off for sure. Anyways, here are some pics of this very nice 1/30 Terran Marine kit...

It even came with a water slide decal... nice!

It came with two heads, one dome head and a human head, I love to use both thus I need to get a couple more of these figure. ;)

Gun is nicely molded in one piece, no seam lines to fix like 1/35 military kits...

I am not really sure if the scale of the figures relative to each other is correct... They are both 1/30 kits, but is the Zerg Hydralisk really that huge in comparison to a Terran Marine?

MG GN-X by Gouf

Ello guys, I just saw this fabulous work at MAC forums and at ZerGunz this morning. Guthrie Scott aka Gouf is the 66th member of our forums and his website, Kitbash has been around. His site houses amazing builds and has been up for 10 years now and has been into modeling since 1988.

Anyways, I was really stunned to see his most recent work, the GN-X in blue Angels color scheme! The build is pretty much ootb save some minor gap filling and minor mods, but the color scheme and the nice glossy finishing nailed it!

Gazillion photos of this great work can be seen at his website - MG GN-X gallery

Bandai Model Kit World Cup Philippines???

Ello guys, there is much fuzz about the new Bandai competition this year. The US has two companies claiming sponsorship and this was announced at Singapore also. Malaysia has yet to get an announcement I think and so is Indonesia and the Philippines.

MatX made a phone call yesterday to a  Bankee official and inquired about the new contest. First of all Bankee is the sole and official distributor of Bandai products in the Philippines. Bankee co - sponsors and organizes such events in the Philippines.

Apparently, the World Cup is just a " renamed " Bakuc with a little tweaking in the rules and a couple of additional categories. There is now an OOTB category and a Group category. The ootb category I see as a replacement to the new challenger category of some sort or to anyone who loves the original design of the mechs and the group category sounds interesting!

We are having these discussions in the MAC forums these past few days... no serious discussions actually, me and mdgelo are just fooling around the discussion section and acting that we are at it again. hahaha... Like we say in the forums... May the biggest crotch win! XD

Anyways, the main question for me is the rule tweaking??? I mean, there are rumors that the Bakuc experts can now join the Pro category again, which means resetting the old rule of " 3 time top 3 winner in past Bankee competitions should be in the expert category and not allowed to join the Pro category ". And also the winner in the Pro category will represent their country in Tokyo, Japan and not Hong Kong.

Anyways, these are all rumors and unofficial news now, the only official news that we confirmed is that it is just practically a renamed Bakuc...We will check with Bankee for the official announcement soon.

So, hehehe... Just enjoy the hobby guys! XD

POLLs removed

Ello guys, the MAC forums is starting to shape up in a week... lots of discussions and posts are already in. So I decided to remove my POLLs here in my blog. The polls are slowing down the loading time of my blog and again due to the forums, I find it unnecessary as their are tons of discussions there already.

Unlike my first poll, which is " What should I do for Bakuc ? " which had hundreds of voters, both these polls had fewer votes. However, the results are pretty interesting. I plan to clean up my blog a little to again speed up the loading time... so I might remove a few more things on the side bar.

As always, thank you to all who voted! Just enjoy the hobby guys! ;)

New section at MAC forums!

Ello guys, I just finished creating a new section for our MAC forums. We take pride in our DIORAMA section inside the Launch pad or finished kit section. I think putting up this section will promote diorama making in particular.

We all have seen great stand alone kits all over the net, but we at MAC think that putting up a diorama section will highlight this art more. I am personally a diorama fan, and any mech or any diorama is posted in this section, and hopefully future members will put there dios here as well!

The newest section is dominated by the evil twins in Matt Tomczek and Matt Mrozek! No! they are not real twins, but they are our good friends from the US. The new section houses all the Resin and conversion kits of these guys, I simply called it - RESIN kits!

I love the resin masterpieces of these guys, I just could not afford them. So putting up a section for these huge behemoths is just but proper. Now, looking for these masterpieces is easier as they are in their own section. hihi

Thanks for dropping by, Hope to see you around our 1 week old forums - MAC forums

ZeroGunz Core Fighter Group Build WIP part 2

Ello guys, before retiring to bed yesterday I puttied up the seam lines of my CF... However, after sanding, detailing and priming... well as expected, a ton of problem areas revealed themselves. I need to reputty the error parts tonight and resand the CF tomorrow.

Anyways, the lazy boy in me prevailed... I got lazy to SB a vent thus I just used some koto parts. I then primed it immediately after detailing to check for errors... and as I've said there are a lot! hehe. I am really happy with how it looks anyways and will paint this by weekend. I can't do much Gunpla during weekdays anyways. ;)

Now here are some pics of my CF that still needs lots of clean up...

M.A.C. forums is OPEN!!!

Ello guys! I just finished detailing the scratch built Core Fighter and I am just waiting for a few puttied areas to dry before I could sand and prime it to check for errors. I will then prime it later and post updates at both ZeroGunz and MAC forums.

The Mech Arts Community ( MAC ) started at Facebook a month ago ( June 2010 ) when fellow Pinoy modeler and creator of Gundam / Mechs / Arts and Crafts ( GMAC ) Vanz Hilario told me that I should create my own Facebook group / community page.

I have a Facebook fan page during that time already wherein all my blog content is posted there. However I felt that it is not enough. So with the 100% support of Vanz, I created MAC at Facebook, a community of Gundam bloggers and modelers sharing links of anything Gundam! Most if not all the GMAC members joined the MAC at facebook instantly. We have 404 members as of this writing and hopefully still growing.

Even with the relative success of the MAC at Facebook, we felt that Facebook is not enough... We needed a more structured place wherein we could discuss meet ups and such and a place that is not blocked in the office.

Then, MatX reminded me of our yearlong empty Forum ( which he constructed )... The first members were MatX and me back in January 2010. I then decided to invite my most trusted online friends... which happens to be really good modelers from the US, Singapore and Malaysia.

The MAC forums was initially conceived with the vision to give a home for the new, young and aspiring Filipino modelers out there who wants to learn more about Gunpla. And with the help from modeler friends around the world wide web...  hopefully this vision is easier than it was first conceived.

We only have 80 members as of this writing, but I think at 1 week old... the highlight of the forum so far is the Diorama section. Inside the completed or launch pad section is the DIO sub section which houses any diorama masterpiece may it be Gunpla or other mechs. :b

ZeroGunz Core Fighter Group Build WIP

Ello guys, I just finished the basic shape of my entry for ZeroGunz Core Fighter Group Build. Basically I replaced Genosider ( ZeroGunz admin ) coz he backed out. So I got the chance to join... One of the rules is that if a Moderator or Admin does not meet the deadline, you will become a member for some time and will have a " Shame banner ".

I do not want to be a member and lose my Moderator status. hihi... Anyways, like any Group Build ( GB ), the most important thing is to make it memorable for you at least. So I decided to modify an Eggplane and paint it in Core Fighter colors just to be unique.

However, I thought that only the Cockpit area will be usable in an Eggplane, So I eventually decided to Scratch Built my own Core Fighter in Super Deformed proportions. Why SD proportion, well... I suck at Scratch building and I love SDs! Now, here are some pics...

I did not have much progress pics, coz I am not comfortable at scratch building... I was so into not ruining the build I forgot to take photos during the build...

After posting this at ZeroGunz and MAC, I will have to putty up the seam lines to let it cure overnight... So that I could sand it tomorrow and detail it a bit. Hopefully I could show a primed Core Fighter tomorrow. Thanks for dropping by! Til' next post! XD
