scratch built backpack update

Ello guys, I managed to squeeze in a couple of hours today to glue a few parts to the scratch built / kit bash backpack I posted earlier this week. Again, this is made up of a mini M&M canister ( green ), some white board markers, a zeta gun, some military parts, some 5mm and 2mm plastic rods and a few koto parts. Obviously this is far from done...but I have no plans of working on this by weekend. I need to start painting the AC White Glint commission that has been sitting on my work bench for some time now.

I plan to detail this piece further, add some wires and some more pla plating and koto parts. Anyways, I have here some pictures to digest, here they are...

Australia is now joining Bakuc!

I got this news from The Bakuc Society - the official Gundam facebook page. This is great news! Our modeler friends from Australia is joining BAKUC ( Bandai Action Kit Universal Cup ) for the first time this 2010.

Bakuc is an INTERNATIONAL competition sponsored by Bandai itself and the best modelers from China, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia, Italy, USA, Thailand, Hong Kong, and South Korea compete for the World Championships. Modelers compete in there own countries and once they win, they get to represent their country in Bakuc Finals held in Hong Kong. So let me rephrase that... basically, you have to win against your fellow modelers in your country before getting the chance to compete against other representatives from other countries.

I am very fortunate to be the first and the only Bakuc World Champion ( 2008 ) from the Philippines in the Pro level category ...but the Philippines bagged the Junior level World Championship last year ( 2009 ) by Eduardo Quirong... a few countries like Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia has a couple World Champions already. I am NOT eligible to join BAKUC ( Pro open level category ) anymore so I am looking forward for other Filipinos to get the title one of these years and I am also actually looking forward to seeing the other countries bag their first World Championship. ;)

There are lots of Categories in this competition, BUT only the winners of the Pro Open level category and the Junior open level category are competing for the world championships in Hong Kong. The winners of the expert category participants and the other minor categories are not eligible to compete in though.

Australians who are interested to join ( I suggest you do join ), just visit here - Bakuc Autralia 2010 details. It was a great experience to compete in Hong kong for the Bakuc Finals and nothing beats the big stage really, so I suggest you give yourselves a chance to do so. Good day everyone and enjoy the hobby as always! ;D

What hguc would you like to see in MG?

The photo of the hguc Gaplant TR-5 ( Hrairoo ) was taken from dalong.net as usual...who does not want  this really nice kit in MG form? I highly doubt there are even plans ( by Bandai ) of creating one but it would be fun to think about it. I did a simple and fun poll located below my Bakuc poll at the sidebar asking " What hguc kit would you like in MG ? ". Feel free to vote when you have the time. ;)

I enjoy looking at the results of my Bakuc POLL which is the " What kit should I do for Bakuc 2010? "... as I've said the result is surprising in a way, coz the MG Sinanju is winning in the poll and we have seen quite a number of Sinanjus out there. However, the hguc Kshatriya in second place is not surprising though.

Honestly, the list of answers in the poll is my list of hguc kits that I would like to get this year. I don't usually paint hgucs but I would love to add them in my little collection. I also plan to get all the hgucs from the Unicorn series, but asking for it in MG rendition is too early.

Basically, I think most if not all of the hguc kits in the list will never be done in MG, coz they are mostly support units or Zeon units with unorthodox designs that has a little fan base ( Bandai thinks so I guess ). This is just a fun poll that has no deadline... Someday, hopefully one of those kits in the list will be given an MG treatment...but for now lets just enjoy the poll and the possibility of the improbable. hihi. Thanks for dropping by! ;D

EDIT: I have removed the Kshatriya from the answers coz it is winning by a very large margin...so to make the poll more interesting I have replaced it with a different answer. Enjoy the poll! ;D

What happened to my AC White Glint build??? ;D

What happened to my AC White Glint build?...well, nothing really... for those very few ( if there is any ) people who are curious to what happened to the commish build, I figured I'd post about it. Anyways, I have not touched the White Glint for 2 weeks now, as most of you know this is my first international commission work, being my client is from the US.

The client basically emailed me to hold off the shipping until June, so naturally I was planning to paint this a couple of weeks ago but figured the painting session could wait until around May. I don't need 2 months to paint this after all. Plus I simply got lazy to paint it, coz I won't be able to ship it anyways. hihi...

I will need to sand a few small ( really small ) parts of the kit and wet sand everything to soften the pla plate edges. I think I might need to paint at least the other small parts just to reduce the number of parts to be painted...will try to start by painting the internals this weekend. Again, this build will be weathered, I will then have to ask the client if he likes the internals ( joints and other gray parts of the V.O.B. ) clean and metallic OR gray with some silver drybrushing.

Well that's about it...I have put the build aside for a couple of weeks, but I will be painting this impressive looking mech soon. So stay tuned...thanks for viewing! ;D

EDIT:  Apparently I did not check my email ( I need to check it regualrly, hihi ), the client emailed me a couple of days ago and today after reading this post and told me that the initial reason of the delay on shipping it on June is no longer the case. hehehe. SO, I will work on this kit by weekend...and I guess will be seeing this kit painted soon. hihi ;D

PG Gundam MK-II WIP part 3 - torso mods

Ello guys, I just finished detailing the PG MKII by cutting some armor parts and did some pla plating and some MSG Koto parts. I started working on the kit after lunch, so it took me around 5 hours to finish this...kinda slow actually. I have been slacking a bit for 2 weeks now, so I am a bit rusty I guess. hehe.

I used my fav triangular hasegawa saw to remove some portions of the armor parts to expose the very nice internals of the kit. PG internals are perfect after all...so I might as well expose them. The armor parts like the PG Zeta armor parts are  a bit difficult to cut actually, coz they are simply a ton thicker than MG armor parts. I have yet to clean up the glue marks of the pla plating and wet sand the pla plates to soften the edges a bit...but I think this is done. The client told me that he wants a Titan's color scheme for this, so I won't be adding too much detail, coz the dark Titan's scheme will hide it a bit.

I will then have to expose some internals on the other parts of the kit ( e.g. legs ) or scribe some thick panel lines if cutting the armor is not possible to maintain the consistency of the overall look of the kit. Anyways here are some pics of the progress...

the armor hides the very nice detailed internals of the waist part...

I exposed a few sections of the armor to expose some nice details...

I even exposed the rear waist area...

Now here are some photos with simple pla plating and some koto parts...

100,000 hits in 7 months!!! THANK YOU!

THANK YOU!!!
My blog has reached the 100,000 views count today! We have reached the milestone in 6 months and 16 days! I started this blog the night after Bakuc Philippines 2009 which was November 9 2009... I have seen the views count grow from an average of 200 page loads to an average of 800 pageloads a day. Basically the page loads grew from 8000 on the first month ( December 9 ) to roughly around 21,000 - 24,000 page loads every month for the past few months ( February - April ).

Obviously I got addicted to blogging plus the fact that I am consciously trimming my Gunpla time these days, unlike last year when I finished 21 kits and did Gunpla everyday. I only do Gunpla on weekends now, but I blog everyday. I have experimented with different looks, templates and banners throughout the 7 months of blogging and I kinda like my current banner and template now. However I will try to continue to improve the site and continue to flood it with Gunpla content.

I am happy to say that this site is the no.1 Filipino Gunpla blog today and is a proud member of the short list of  Gundam " modelling " sites ( NOT Gundam " news " site ) who have reached the 100,000 views count mark! I thank ALL my visitors and readers for your support! I will try to continue to improve in this hobby and share my development and progress with you as always.

Special thanks to my frequent commentors, visitors and people whom I interact with everyday at ZeroGunz and the other forums that I have in my " Forums I visit " page! Thank you to my fellow mech artists for the support, my 36 blog readers, my 133 followers in facebook, and my 18 followers in twitter! Now here are some pics of the model kits I finished since I started this blog, some banners I did and some other stuffs for the past seven months of blogging...

Once again THANK YOU ALL!!!
Bad Vibes is not allowed here! Enjoy the hobby!!! ;)
