Junkbots Kriz modeled by RZERO1

Junkbots Kriz modeled by RZERO1 photo

One of the most creative artists I know, Raymond Celeste aka rzero1 just finished another cool looking robot!

This is yet another addition to Ray's ever growing line up of concept scrap / scratch built robots and he named it JunkBot Kriz. Named after one of our good friend Kriz who is a fellow admin of MAC forums. As always Ray's JunkBot looks cool and has his patented rusty finishing and small custom base. Great little stuff that I automatically wanted to share with my readers.

Here is the link to a ton more photos of this little critter at Raymond's website...

WIP - Trollbloods Madrak Ironhide - custom base

I went to the one and only shop that sells Privateer Press figures the other day and got myself my first ever metal figure and my first ever Hordes Trollbloods!

I asked the guy ( could be the owner of the shop - thank you sir ) for a cheap well detailed Trollbloods figure as my first fig. He was accommodating enough to show me some, though he recommended this Madrak Ironhide variant figure as it is an important character.

I then realized that it is the leader of the Trollbloods clan and is the " most important " character amongst all the Trollbloods. The price is very good as it is even cheaper than the official price at Privateer Press.

Kinda hesitant to paint Madrak as he is a very important character but worked on the figure the moment I opened the blister pack. The metal fig came with a standard round plastic base and you have to glue both the arms to the body. It is really heavy as I am used to holding light plastic robots ( Gunpla ) for 4 years.

Knowing that Madrak is a very important character, I then thought of putting him on top of a cliff base. I was lazy to sculpt a cliff from epoxy putty so I just looked for a cliff-looking stone in front of our yard for many minutes. I think the stone that I used looks like a nice cliff. I am happy with the way it turned out so far as the position of Madrak on top of his base looks pretty well balance. Madrak is centered at all angles.

I am still hestant to paint this figure though but should be confident to paint the custom base already. Anyways here are some photos of my first ever Hordes metal miniature fig...

WIP: GW LOTR Mordor Orcs - clothes painting

WIP: GW LOTR Mordor Orcs - clothes painting photo

I have painted all the red and green clothes / areas of all the 24 Games Workshop LOTR Mordor Orcs a couple of days ago. I have also painted the dark browns on the the parts. All of the green skin, green clothes and red clothes have highlights, edge lining and washes already.

The figures are being painted with Vallejo Model Color as usual but the washes are Windsor & Newton oil paints. Loving the oil paints very much but I have yet to invest on more tubes / colors.

I like taking photos of my progress as I see my imperfections in the close up pics. Some of the highlight colors are a bit thick and the washes are a little bit too dark. These are my first miniatures and painting all 24 of them should be a great learning experience as I paint more complex and more detailed miniatures very soon.

These are plastic figures and I am looking forward to leveling up to their metal counterparts very soon! Anyways here are a few progress shots of my Mordor Orcs...

HORDES TROLLBLOODS ARMY soon!

lots of HORDES TROLLBLOODS soon photo

After sooooo many days of research on sooo many clans and factions in the world of Iron Kingdoms, I decided to start an army of TROLLBLOODS!

Just got to love those blue smurf-like skin. I just got my very first ever Trollbloods, a Madrak Ironhide figure a couple of days ago and I am super excited to slowly build an army of Trollbloods the whole year! I like all of the sculpts and the intricate Scottish looking clothes and barbaric armors.

Madrak Ironhide is the leader of the Trollbloods thus I think my first figure deserves an extra special base. So I plan to give him a tall cliff base that would make him tower over his ( future ) army of Trolls! Wish me luck on painting the patterns on his costume though.

Updates and WIP on this little project very soon! So stay tuned guys! :)

I'll leave you with a few links of my army to be...

The Trollbloods represent a loose alliance between a variety of
formerly scattered and disparate tribal communities. They were forced to
band together to survive in the face of humanity’s quickly escalating
wars. Trollkin tribes, called kriels, have deep roots in western
Immoren, where they have built homes in several wilderness regions the
human nations had deemed of little interest. Trollkin are not strangers
to human cities, as a number of these robust and hardy people work and
live alongside mankind, but the majority remain in the wild, wary of
humanity after a long history of frequent struggles, broken promises,
and mutual bloodshed.

Recent wars between the human nations of Khador and Cygnar had a
particularly disruptive influence on the large number of trollkin who
once lived in the dense Thornwood Forest. Because of the forest’s
location these kriels found themselves directly in the middle of border
fighting between the two implacable and bitter rival nations. Making
things worse, Cryxian abominations soon entered the fray, absorbing the
fallen dead to bolster their own numbers. The trollkin looked to one of
their great leaders, the chieftain Madrak Ironhide, to unite them and
save their race. Madrak reluctantly took up a cursed weapon of last
resort, an ancient axe named Rathrok, or “World Ender,” in the hopes
that its power would preserve his people and their way of life.

Since that decision the trollkin have been embroiled in a series of
desperate struggles. Driven from the Thornwood they find no safety
anywhere they travel and must continue to search for a proper home. They
fight for their mates and young and to preserve their society against
an endless series of horrors and setbacks. Yet every challenge only
strengthens their resolve and encourages the warrior spirit that
persists in the very blood and bones of this brave people. They refuse
to break under the pressure and fight tooth and nail for their right to a
better life. A number of great leaders and heroes have arisen from the
scattered kriels as Madrak Ironhide has attracted supporters from as far
away as the Scarsfell Forest of northern Khador and the Gnarls of
western Cygnar.

The trollkin are not alone in their struggles. Their species has long
been able to call on full-blood trolls to fight in their battles. These
great creatures are seen by humanity as monsters, yet they will heed
the commands of trollkin warlocks. Individuals like Madrak and his
greatest ally and rival, the shaman Hoarluk Doomshaper, can connect to
the minds of full-blood trolls and call them to battle. These creatures
possess strength and regenerative powers passed down by the
mother-goddess Dhunia and thereby can endure punishment that would
annihilate any other living creature. In return for this vitality,
full-blood trolls are driven by endless hunger. This need to feast makes
trolls difficult to control but also fearsome adversaries. Together
with their troll allies, trollkin warlocks and champions are ready to
stand their ground against any army that dares threaten them.

Custom Miniature Bases from ARMORCAST

Armorcast Custom Miniature Bases photo

This post just serves as my quick reference on some very nice custom miniature bases from Armorcast. All photos and bases are sold at armorcast.com.

I just got my first Hordes metal figure a couple of days ago and I am very excited to base him very soon. I love bases and dioramas and doing it with miniatures is nothing different. I just plan to do a quick custom base for my first Trollkin using real pebbles and some epoxy putty.

Will need to clean up the mold lines on my fig and will work on it as soon as I get home. :)
